Day Of Atonement Releases New Single/Music Video Come To Me

Vancouver, Canada-based indie-pop singer-songwriter Day Of Atonement, aka Michael Meszaros, recently unveiled his brand-new single/music video, “Come To Me,” the title track from his album.

Recorded at Roy Salmond’s studio, Whitewater Productions, musicians appearing on the song include Brian Thiessen (guitar), who is the lead guitarist for Brian Doerksen, and Roy Salmond (percussion, bass, keyboards).

As a singer, oboe player, and piano player, Day Of Atonement grew up performing incredible music from the best of the classics to hit film scores, followed by leading a male vocal ensemble and performing solo for many years, surrounded by top-notch musicians.

Day Of Atonement’s sound blends elements of pop and rock, resulting in straightforward pop structures, along with plush harmonies and melodic lyricism. Having been a live audio sound engineer for more than 12 years, he has built a few home studios, allowing him to do the final mixes.

Each year, on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), he performs a free concert. In 2023, the performance will occur on Tuesday, September 26, at 10:30 a.m. A pre-requisite is to participate in the whole day, which starts the evening before.

“Come To Me” opens on low-slung, rounded, chiming tones topped by the evocative, high tenor of Day Of Atonement. The gentle rhythmic pulse features a vibrating bassline and finessed, subdued percussion, giving the tune a peaceful, alluring flow.

As the harmonics slowly build, the tune takes on depth and dimension, adding gleaming textures that imbue the song with warm surfaces.

“Do you want love / Do you want life / Come to me / My way is easy / My load is light / My burden you can bear / Come to me / All who are weary.”

At once mellow, compassionate, and graceful, with “Come To Me” Day Of Atonement offers a gorgeously wrought, moving song.
