Five Rio Olympians We Predict Will Be Big Celebrities

olympics

The Olympic Games are some of the most exciting in the world. It’s a time in which the world’s most famous and most talented athletes come together to take on the other bests in the world, and it’s good television. We all love a little healthy competition, but the same thing happens every single year. The same famous faces take on the lesser-knowns of the world and either win or don’t. Either way, however, they always become so much more famous than they were in the past. We have our favorites already, but we also think that there might be a few new faces that might end up leaving Rio more famous than ever before. Whether you’ve heard of them or not, we know that these relative unknowns – and one very well-known – are going to be even bigger celebrities by the time the games are over.

simone biles

Simone Biles

She’s 19, and she’s from Texas. They say everything is bigger in Texas, and they were clearly talking about Simone Biles’ talent in the world of gymnastics. She is a winner all the way, and she’s Team USA. She’s won three world championships in a row now, and while she’s not nearly as famous as some of her teammates, we don’t think that will last much longer. Remember her name; she is the next big thing.

katie ledecky

Katie Ledecky

The swimmer is young, but she’s already more accomplished than anyone else in the game. She might not be Michael Phelps, but excuse us for thinking that she’s about to take him on in terms of handing out win after win in the Olympic Games. She’s good, and she’s going to make a big name for herself this summer. Get ready, world; she’s coming. She’s headed to Stanford soon, too, and we’re hoping she can reboot the bad reputation their swim team has had lately.

i. muhammad

Ibtihaj Muhammad

Fencing is not all that interesting in my opinion – sorry fans, but I don’t see how it’s a sport. Either way, though, this is one inspiring woman. She’s part of Team USA, and she’s good. She will also be the first athlete in the US to ever wear her hijab in the games, and we are a little impressed. Why? Because the way the world is right now, it’s a bold move on her part – and we think it might just be the first of a lot of bold moves on her behalf.

laurie hernandez

Laurie Hernandez

She is the first young woman to join the Olympic team for Team USA of Latina descent in the past 30 years. She’s darn good, too, and we think that based on the number of headlines this 16-year-old girl is already making, she’s in for some serious fame. She’s a dream come true for the American team. She’s young, she’s good and she’s focused. She can really help bring home the gold, and she might just be the next Gabby Douglas.

caitlyn jenner

Caitlyn Jenner

Okay, okay; so the name is already famous. However, Caitlyn Jenner is not an Olympian in Rio. She’s the former Bruce Jenner, a former Olympian Gold Medalist from 40 years ago, and she’s about to make some serious headlines. If she attends the games, she’s going to be the most famous person there and it will only make her more famous. She won’t just sit on the sidelines and take note; she will make herself known and we are excited about it.
